Anna Wacker is a France-based artists with the Ukrainian roots. After completed her studies at the university in Ukraine she moved to Germany, where she lived and worked for many years until settling down in the eastern part of France.
As Anna was developing her own style she started deviating from pure figurative painting toward the abstract, also experimenting with various approaches and techniques from pastel to oil, from collage to mixed media. She is using bold colors, shapes and texture over multiple layers and continuously experimenting with visual depth.
Anna’s signature process starts by creating complex layers on canvas. With a combination of paints, acrylic inks and charcoal Anna builds the beginning stage of her paintings. Many layers later, the paintings contain a variety of marks, some made by scratching and re-painting the surface, and some made using the collage or by drawing specific shapes, softened by the oil paints for the shimmering final layers.
At the time being Anna’s preferred mediums are soft pastels, oils as well as mixed media for the artwork on canvas and paper.
Anna is steadily developing her drawing and painting skills through continuous learning from international professional artists in the master-classes, courses and workshops.
In the last years Anna has participated in group exhibitions and art shows in different regions of France as well as in Germany, United States and South Korea. Her works are in the private collections in the USA, Germany, France and Russia.
Currently, Anna works in her studio near Strasbourg in France. The studio and gallery can be visited by appointment.
